April Prolife Events

Hello! It’s almost April and this year has already been packed with amazing pro-life activities!  As we prepare our hearts to be renewed with Jesus’ resurrection at Easter please remember to pray for the renewal of our culture to become a culture of life.

There is a lot positive happening!  Please pass the below information about the coming pro-life events on to your friends and family and get them involved to any extent they are willing (while 40 Days for Life can be a little intimidating, anyone can buy books at the IRTL Book Sale or can attend a nice dinner to support pro-life work). There are lots of coming events where we can both provide valuable support for life and have fun!

USCCB Action Alerts – Deadline April 8
Tell HHS its newly proposed rule still violates religious liberty!

Under the new health care law, the Obama administration is requiring most health plans to cover “preventive services for women,” including items that many citizens find objectionable for moral and religious reasons: sterilization, FDA-approved birth control (such as the IUD, Depo-Provera, ‘morning-after’ pills, and the abortion-inducing drug Ella), and “education and counseling” to promote these to all “women of reproductive capacity,” including dependent female children.

Comments on a new “proposed rule” on how to implement this mandate are due by April 8th.

Please click here to send a prepared message to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today!

Iowa Right to Life Celebrate Life Banquet – April 13th

Saturday, April 13, 6:30 pm
Special Guest, Carol Everett
Airport Holiday Inn, 6111 Fleur Drive, Des Moines

Carol Everett had an abortion herself shortly after the Roe v. Wade decision. She went on to spend years promoting and selling abortion to other women in four abortion facilities that she owned and operated in Texas. Following her conversion experience in 1983, Everett began using her experiences and faith to connect women with life-affirming alternatives to abortion.

Cost to attend this uplifting evening is $50 per person or $75 per couple. Contact us if you are interested in hosting a table. Please make your reservations no later than April 5th by calling us at 877.595.9406 or via email at

InnerVisions HealthCare Fundraiser Dinner – June 4th

Register now for the InnerVisions Banquet! As of today 92 women have chosen life for their baby rather than abortion at InnerVisions HealthCare. Our annual fundraising banquet is June 4, and this year’s theme is “Life is Beautiful!”

The guest speaker is post-abortive actress, Shari Rigby, from the hit pro-life movie October Baby. If you are interested in reserving your seats or becoming a table host, contact Jenny Condon at 515-440-2273 or  or register online at

Next Diocesan Pro-Life Meeting – June 11th

The next Diocesan Pro-Life meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 11th, at 6 pm at St. Pius Parish. Usually it is the first Tuesday of the month, but has been moved to accommodate the InnerVisions Banquet.

Iowans for Life Banquet – July 27th

Join us for the Iowans for Life Banquet on Saturday, July 27, at 6:00 pm at Holiday Inn Airport, 6111 Fleur Drive, Des Moines.  The dinner will be $25/person.

The guest speaker will be Bobby Schindler (brother of Terri Schiavo). Bobby Schindler is the Co-Executive Director of the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network which works to protect the lives of the medically vulnerable and disabled from the threat of euthanasia.

Following the tragic death of his sister, Terri, via imposed dehydration and starvation, Bobby gave us his teaching job at Tampa Catholic High School and became a full-time pro-life and disability rights advocate. Today Bobby assists families in need of legal action to prevent their loved ones from health care rationing and food and water removal. Bobby and the Schindler family continue to advocate for persons with disabilities and he works tirelessly to put an end to the growing pro-death mentality that is plaguing our nation.

Please RSVP by July 22 to 515-255-4113 or

Legislative Update

It sounds like even with all of our hard work contacting Iowa legislators, none of the pro-life bills made it through the funnel. This includes the bill that would prohibit webcam abortions. Please pray and continue to educate the people in your life about the importance of being an advocate for life! We will try again next year.

Creative Pro-Life Fundraiser Idea

A new option for pro-life fundraising was recently brought to my attention.  A product called “Humble Angel Honey” was specifically designed to help with pro-life fundraising efforts.  It’s a fun idea and something different if you’ve gotten into a fundraising rut – the Omaha-based organization offers angel-shaped containers filled with
pure honey.
