Gabriel Project Update

Gabriel Project Des Moines is in search of a new volunteer director. Gabriel Project is a pro-life organization that matches women in crisis pregnancy situations with “angel” volunteers who will help meet their practical needs with the organization’s resources.

Marilyn Sharp, an amazing woman, will continue to be the volunteer director until September 1, 2015, and then will transition to be an “angel” helper. The Board of Gabriel Project would like to identify someone to be the director soon so that person could be trained and ready before September. The Gabriel Project asks you to prayerfully consider this rewarding service to women in difficult situations and their babies. If you are interested or would like more information, e-mail Marilyn Sharp at dsharpie@mchsi.com.

Short FREE Pro-Life Film – Mitosis

An 18-year-old director, Hannah Victoria, has made a 14-minute, beautiful film about the ripple effects of one choice, including the loss created by a choice for abortion.  Mitosis is about “a young doctor who, after making a promise to a childhood friend, sets out to find a cure for cancer.” The film is done beautifully and in a thought-provoking way. Just to make us think about how the choices we make affect everyone around us and the wider world.

The film was funded through the fundraiser website, Kickstarter. When Victoria reached her goal, she announced that the film would be released for free. She has posted it on YouTube, so please watch it and share it. I’m really impressed with its thoughtful (not harsh or painful) and beautiful approach, which could start dialogue with many people who aren’t sure what they think about the issue. I’m sure older kids could get a lot out of this movie with discussion.

Watch the short movie on YouTube HERE.
