Ruth Harbor Walk for Life – May 9th

Ruth Harbor is having its 10th annual Walk for Life on Saturday, May 9th at 9:30 am. The walk this year will be at a NEW LOCATION. Meet on the patio of the Embassy Suites Downtown for coffee and snacks. From there take a scenic walk by the river. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome – there won’t be any steps or curbs. Make this a family activity!

This walk is to raise funds for Ruth Harbor’s services. Ruth Harbor is a Christ-centered home for young women who are alone and facing unplanned pregnancies. For their residents they provide transportation, counseling, life-skill training, support for education, employment, and more. For more about how they help young pregnant women and their babies, see their video HERE.

It is helpful for them if you become a sponsored walker. You register online and ask friends and family to support you. If you raise $250, you will receive a free 10th anniversary walk t-shirt. You can also show up that morning and write a check – my family and I did this last year, and the walk was really enjoyable. They had signs along the way where you learned more about Ruth Harbor’s work.

For more information and to register see their website HERE or e-mail them at walk@ruthharbor.org.

Holy Heroes Spiritual Adoption Program

If you have children and are interested in working in ways to pray for vulnerable unborn children as a family, then you need to hear about the new Holy Heroes Spiritual Adoption program. Spiritual adoption is where you pray daily over nine months for a vulnerable unborn baby to be saved from abortion.

Holy Heroes is a business run by a Catholic family that has free programs, like Advent Adventure and Lenten Adventure, where they e-mail you short, informational YouTube videos, coloring pages, and other resources to help children grow in their faith. My family loves everything that Holy Heroes does, and we have signed up for the Spiritual Adoption program. Click HERE to see a short video that explains the program.

This FREE online program begins May 1, 2015 (the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker) and wraps up on Feb. 2, 2016 (the Feast of the Presentation). Find more information or sign up HERE.

Good News!

New Arizona Informed Consent Law About Chemical Abortion Reversals

According to Americans United for Life, “Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed into law a historic, first-in-the-nation informed consent bill, ensuring that women seeking chemical abortions are informed that the process can be reversed, and the life of the baby saved.

Reports show that 80 babies have been born following the abortion reversal process, with another 60 or so on the way (still in utero). That is 140 lives saved!”

It’s important that we know about this reversal process. I have heard that Dr. McKernan, from the Vitae Family Clinic in West Des Moines, is able to do this reversal process that can save a baby. You never know when you could help save a life.

Kansas and Oklahoma Pass Laws Against “Dismemberment Abortions”

According to Live Action: “Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has signed the nation’s first law banning D&E abortion procedures. These abortions are typically performed during the second trimester, and rip preborn babies apart limb by limb. This is why, across the nation, similar proposed laws are being referred to as ‘dismemberment bans.’”

And according to Life News: “Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin has signed into law a groundbreaking pro-life bill… that would ban dismemberment abortions that tear babies limb from limb. Abortion practitioners would face up to two years in prison under the legislation as well as a $10,000 fine. Both the Senate and State House supported the ‘Oklahoma Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act.’ House members voted 84-2 for the bill.”

Pro-Life Event at Pope Francis Visit

When Pope Francis comes to Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families this September, Priests for Life will hold a special pro-life event. Anyone who is making a pilgrimage to Philadelphia should see if they can check the pro-life event out as well.

From Priests for Life: “Immediately prior to the 2015 Synod will be the World Meeting with Families in Philadelphia, from September 22-27, 2015. This event is held every three years, and this is the first time it will occur in the United States. Its theme is ‘Love is our Mission: The Family Fully Alive.’

Priests for Life has been active in all these phases of reflection, education, and pastoral initiatives, making it clear that nothing is more destructive of the family than abortion. At the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, we will host a special pro-life event on Wednesday night, September 23, from 6 to 8 pm, followed by a reception for national pro-life leaders from 8 to 9 pm. Prayer, testimony, and exhibits will mark the event, to be held in the Philadelphia Convention Center. Please mark your calendars and check for more details as we get closer!”
